SFA Program
The SFA (Student & Family Advocate) project initiative has provided cultural advocacy to young women and families from Afrocentric backgrounds within the educational system since 2021.
The project aims to empower, support, and guide young black women through a gender and culturally specific structure through group workshops, community engagement events and one-on-one case management.
The SFA objective is to ensure participants are:
- better equip to transition and navigate through secondary school, post-secondary, trades and the work field with supports and resources
- Confident, self-aware and have the tools to establish and maintain healthy relationships & boundaries
- Supported by their families to help guide them through their educational journeys
- Understood by their community agencies through their intersectionality (gender, race & culture)
