Flourish

Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre (CHC) Flourish project is dedicated to engaging, empowering and supporting women affected by female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). Funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada the program will address the root causes of gender-based violence through the systematic application of gender equity, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and safe caring strategies.

Women’s Health in Women’s Hands CHC will achieve this by:

  1. Developing education and awareness-raising resources for survivors of FGM/C and healthcare and community service providers.
  2. Strengthen support systems for survivors of FGM/C and those at risk through the implementation of the service providers’ framework.
  3. Develop a sustainable virtual access pathway to support linkage to care and referral for survivors and women at risk aged 16 years and over.

Flourish Access aims to provide resources and support for women and girls over 16 years of age, who have experienced, are experiencing or are at risk of different forms of gender-based violence. Through the virtual services MAP, women and girls can access medical, social, legal and mental health services best suited to support their needs.
