Individual
Counselling/Groups
The Therapist works with the client to provide confidential
individual counselling and support groups and appropriate referrals. Call (416)

Advocacy
Assistance
Our Intake Counselor assist clients in need of advocacy support, information

Our community dietitian works with
individuals and groups to help you make informed decisions about healthy eating
for better living.

community health doctors and nurses provide women centered medical services. Please

Pre
& Postnatal Service
The primary goal is to achieve Healthy outcomes for mother and child.
Obstetrical care is shared with a midwife or obstetrician based on the womans
choice. At 36 weeks of pregnancy clients are transferred to an Obstetrician. Midwifery
care begins when the client is transferred to the midwife.
The Service
includes:
1. Prenatal Care: Clients received comprehensive prenatal
care from the Centres multidisciplinary team ----- risk assessment, well
woman care, education and counseling on pregnancy, labor, birth.
2. Prenatal
Link: Group sessions held every Friday from 1:00p.m.-3:00p.m. This program provides
information on a wider scope such as: stress management, diabetes, high blood
pressure, HIV/AIDS, Pap smears, breast self-examination, immigration, housing,
nutrition, obtaining health card, general mother and infant care, labour, birth,
delivery, postpartum depression. Women have an opportunity to share experiences
and offer support to each other. Healthy lunches are provided.
3. Postnatal:
comprehensive postnatal care by Centres team, home visit by a nurse if necessary,
breast feeding support, monitoring for postpartum depression, strategies for coping
with new baby.
4. Joining All Mothers (JAM): drop-in support group for
mothers to talk about any issues and reduce isolation. Program is held every third
Wednesday from 2:00p.m.-3:00p.m. Again, healthy snacks are provided.
5. Breastfeeding Resource Center: Breastfeeding counseling is given daily on a
one-one basis by physicians and nurses at the Centre. In addition,
a Certified Lactation Consultant provides additional support and education on
breastfeeding on Wednesdays and alternate Fridays. Nourishments provided.
